Daily Sceptic: Has the pro-trans side lost the culture war in Britain?

Summarised by Centrist

Despite the backlash against gender critical feminists, such as petitions and job losses, data, derived from the British Social Attitudes survey suggests that the pro-trans side is losing ground in that country.

Public support for transgender individuals changing their sex on birth certificates has dropped by more than half between 2016 and 2023.

This reversal is mirrored in attitudes towards equal opportunities for transgender people, with a rise in the belief that efforts have “gone too far” from about one third of those surveyed in 2021 to nearly half in 2023.

However, this scepticism towards transgender rights does not extend to same-sex marriage, where support has reportedly risen since 2016.

According to the Daily Sceptic’s Noah Carl, the increasing opposition to transgender rights is not indicative of a broader decline in tolerance towards sexual minorities. Carl notes:

“This is hardly surprising, since the ‘LGBT community’ is, in fact, no such thing. Many of the L’s (that is, lesbians) don’t want T’s (that is, transgender people) intruding in their social spaces, such as gay bars. Rather than being part of some grand rainbow alliance, lesbians and transgender people are often on opposite sides of the debate.”
