GDP better overall, but worse per capita

It seems that certain politicians and media outlets conveniently choose to cherry-pick the positive total GDP headlines while conveniently neglecting to mention GDP per capita figures.

With a discouraging -0.1% GDP decrease being touted and a population increase of 33,000 GDP per capita of -0.7% paints an unpleasant picture of real economic well-being.
